Discretionary Sales Surtax
A county add-on to the state sales tax, usually 0.5%–1.5%.
Why you care
It rides along with state sales tax and is filed on the same return, which is exactly why owners forget it exists until it appears on an assessment.
Worked example
Osceola County’s surtax on top of the 6% state rate brings the state-side total to 7%, before the county tourist tax.
