Gross vs. Net

Three different numbers that owners use interchangeably and shouldn’t.

Why you care

Gross is what the guest paid. Net is what is left after operating costs. What hits your bank account is a fourth thing again, because it is timed differently and still has tax sitting in it.

Worked example

Guest paid $1,350. Payout was $1,310. Net after cleaning, supplies, a share of fixed costs and tax was about $430. Same booking, three numbers, and only one of them is yours.
